- Leaf: Heart-shaped, glossy green leaves with a hooded, cupped tip; petioles are thick and upright
- Stem: Short, rhizomatous underground stem; forms dense clumps over time
- Inflorescence: Pale green spathe enclosing a spadix (rarely produced in indoor cultivation)
Care Guide
Keep soil evenly moist but not waterlogged; mist leaves regularly to boost humidity
Diluted balanced liquid fertilizer every 2 weeks. Discontinue fertilization in autumn and winter when growth slows
Banana peel compost tea:Compost banana peels for 2–3 weeks; steep in water for 24 hours, dilute 1:20 for root drench; avoid raw peels to prevent pest infestations- Remove yellowing or damaged leaves at the base to maintain plant health and airflow
- Trim overcrowded rhizomes during spring repotting to control clump size
- Cut back brown leaf tips to improve appearance, leaving a small margin of brown tissue to prevent further damage
