Characteristics
- Leaf: Opposite, ovate, fleshy, glossy green with red leaf margins under bright direct light
- Stem: Woody, brown, branching to form a compact, tree-like structure
- Flower: Star-shaped, white to pale pink, clustered at stem tips (rarely produced indoors)
Care Guide
Water when soil is fully dry (every 1–2 weeks)
Diluted cactus fertilizer once every 2 months. Do not fertilize in winter when growth is dormant
Eggshell powder topdress:Grind dried eggshells to a fine powder; sprinkle lightly on soil surface to boost calcium levels and improve soil drainage- Pinch stem tips in spring to encourage branching and maintain a compact tree-like form
- Remove yellowing or damaged leaves promptly to prevent pest infestations and improve airflow
- Trim overgrown branches in early spring to maintain desired shape and size

Pets: ASPCA-listed toxic; contains bufadienolides which may cause vomiting, lethargy, and rare irregular heart rhythm
Humans: Ingestion of large quantities may cause mild gastrointestinal upset including nausea and vomiting
