Care Guide

Watering

Water deeply and frequently, often daily during peak summer heat

Fertilization

Apply a balanced fertilizer weekly as new growth appears. Extremely heavy feeders; regular fertilization is critical for sustained blooming.

Banana Peel Tea:Steep chopped banana peels in a pitcher of water for 24-48 hours. Strain the liquid and dilute 1:1 with water to pour around the base of the plant. This provides essential potassium for the massive trumpet flowers. Discard the used peels in an outdoor compost bin to avoid attracting fruit flies.
Pruning
  • Timing: Prune in late autumn or early spring before new growth begins;
  • Safety: Always wear thick gloves and long sleeves when pruning to avoid contact with toxic sap;
  • Technique: Cut above the "Y" (the point where the main trunk first branches) to ensure the plant continues to produce flowers;
  • Maintenance: Remove dead or crossing branches to improve air circulation and maintain a strong structural canopy.
