Characteristics
- Leaves: Broadly ovate, pale green with dark green, feather-like patterns radiating from the midrib above, and deep purple undersides;
- Stems: Short, clumping habit, arising from underground rhizomes;
- Flowers: Inconspicuous white or pale purple tubular flowers borne on short spikes, rarely seen in cultivation.
Care Guide
Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry, using distilled or rainwater to prevent leaf tip burn.
Apply a diluted, balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer.. Do not over-fertilize, as salt buildup can cause the leaf edges to brown and crisp.
Aquarium Water:Use water from routine freshwater aquarium changes. It provides gentle, natural nitrogen. Ensure the water has no added salts or harsh fish medications.- Remove dead, yellowed, or damaged leaves by cutting them at the base of the stem with sterilized shears;
- Wipe leaves gently with a damp cloth to remove dust and keep the stomata clear;
- Do not use commercial leaf shine products, as they can clog the plant's pores.
