Characteristics
- Leaves: Fleshy, rounded to ovate, tightly stacked opposite each other along the stem, pale green with reddish margins when exposed to bright light;
- Flowers: Small, star-shaped, pinkish-white, borne in terminal clusters;
- Stems: Slender, trailing or cascading, initially fleshy but becoming woody at the base with age.
Care Guide
Water thoroughly when the soil is completely dry.
Apply a diluted, balanced succulent fertilizer.. Fertilize sparingly during the active growing season. Do not fertilize in winter.
Banana Peel Tea:Steep chopped banana peels in water for 24 hours, strain, and dilute 1:1 with water. Use to promote root strength and flowering. Avoid leaving solid peels on soil to prevent pests and odors.- Trim back leggy or elongated stems to encourage branching and a fuller appearance;
- Remove any dead or dried leaves at the base of the plant;
- Use healthy stem cuttings for easy propagation by letting them callous before planting.
Toxicity
Warning: this plant may be toxic.
Pets: May cause mild gastrointestinal upset if ingested, similar to other Crassula species (per ASPCA guidelines for the genus).
Humans: Generally considered non-toxic to humans, though ingestion is not recommended.
