Plant Needs
Characteristics
- Leaves: Fleshy, ovate to heart-shaped, light green centers with prominent creamy white to pale yellow margins;
- Flowers: Small, daisy-like, vibrant red to deep pink, approximately 1.5 cm in diameter, opening in direct sunlight and closing at night or on cloudy days;
- Stems: Succulent, trailing and branching freely, often tinged with pink or red under high light.
Care Guide
Water thoroughly when the soil is dry to the touch, typically once a week.
Apply a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half strength.. Avoid over-fertilizing, which can cause leggy growth and reduce flowering.
Banana Peel Tea:Steep chopped banana peels in water for 24 hours, strain, and use the liquid to water the plant to encourage blooming. Discard the solid peels in the compost to avoid attracting fungus gnats.- Pinch back the growing tips early in the season to encourage a bushier, more compact habit;
- Trim excessively long trailing stems to maintain the desired shape in hanging baskets;
- Remove any dead or mushy foliage immediately to maintain plant hygiene.
