Plant Needs
Characteristics
- Leaves: Glossy, dark green, uniquely curled and twisted, spiraling tightly around the central stem;
- Stem: Sturdy, upright cane that becomes woody with age, retaining prominent leaf scars;
- Flowers: Rarely flowers indoors; produces panicles of highly fragrant, small white to pale pink flowers in ideal conditions;
- Roots: Thick, fleshy rhizomatous root system adapted for water storage.
Care Guide
Water thoroughly when the top half of the soil is dry, allowing excess water to drain.
Apply a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer diluted to half strength.. Do not fertilize during the autumn and winter months when plant growth naturally slows down.
Banana Peel Tea：Steep chopped banana peels in water for 24 hours, strain, and use the liquid to water the plant. Avoid leaving raw peels on the soil surface to prevent fungus gnats and odors.- Remove yellowing or dead bottom leaves by gently pulling them downward;
- Prune the top of the cane if the plant becomes too tall; this will encourage new branching just below the cut;
- Wipe leaves regularly with a damp cloth to remove dust and support photosynthesis.
