Plant Needs
Characteristics
- Leaves: Broad, strap-like, light green fronds with a distinct network of dark green veins creating a puckered, reptilian texture;
- Rhizomes: Creeping, scaly rhizomes that attach to bark or rocks in their natural habitat;
- Spores: Sori (spore clusters) appear on the undersides of mature fronds as small brown dots.
Care Guide
Keep the soil evenly moist but not soggy.
Apply a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer.. Feed monthly during the growing season; halt fertilization in winter.
Aquarium Water Fertilizer:Use dirty aquarium water when doing water changes; it provides gentle, natural nitrogen perfect for ferns. Ensure the water has no added salts or chemical medications.- Remove dead, brown, or damaged fronds at the base using sterilized shears;
- Do not remove healthy fronds, as ferns grow slowly;
- Wipe dusty leaves gently with a damp cloth to keep the "crocodile" texture visible.

Pets: Non-toxic to cats per ASPCA guidelines for true ferns.
