Characteristics

  • Stem: Globose to short cylindrical, striking blue-green to glaucous, with 11 to 15 acute, straight ribs;
  • Spines: Areoles bear bristle-like, golden-yellow spines that line the rib margins in a continuous row;
  • Flowers: Apical, funnel-shaped, bright sulfur-yellow, approximately 4-5 cm in diameter, with numerous petals.

Watering

Water thoroughly when the soil is completely dry, allowing excess to drain.

Fertilization

Apply a diluted, low-nitrogen fertilizer once at the start of the growing season.. Fertilize sparingly during the active growing season; do not fertilize in winter.
