Characteristics
- Stems: Fleshy, green, distinctively zigzagged, changing direction at each node, containing milky white latex;
- Leaves: Ovate to lanceolate, alternate, slightly fleshy, sometimes variegated, often deciduous in dry conditions;
- Flowers: Cyathia enclosed in bright red or pink slipper-shaped bracts clustered at stem tips.
Care Guide
Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil is dry.
Apply a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength.. Do not fertilize in winter during dormancy.
Banana Peel Tea:Soak chopped banana peels in water for 24 hours, strain, and dilute 1:1 with water. Avoid using raw peels directly on soil to prevent pests and odors.- Wear thick gloves and eye protection to avoid contact with toxic milky sap;
- Prune leggy stems in spring to encourage a bushier growth habit;
- Wash pruning shears thoroughly after use to remove sticky latex.

Pets: Ingestion causes vomiting and diarrhea; sap causes dermal and ocular irritation (per ASPCA guidelines for Euphorbia species).
Humans: Milky latex causes skin and eye irritation; ingestion causes nausea and vomiting.
