Characteristics
- Leaf: Evergreen needles in fascicles of 2–3, 15–25 cm long, glossy dark green
- Cone: Ovoid, 7–15 cm long, with sharp, recurved scales
- Stem/Bark: Young bark smooth gray; mature bark thick, furrowed, reddish-brown
Care Guide
Water deeply every 7–10 days during dry periods; reduce if rainfall is sufficient
Apply slow-release acidic fertilizer once in early spring. Do not fertilize in autumn or winter to prevent new growth from frost damage

- Thin crowded lower branches to encourage upward growth in young trees
- Avoid heavy pruning; only trim to maintain shape or remove damaged growth that poses a safety hazard
