Characteristics
- Leaf: Needle-like, 3 per fascicle, 12–20 cm long, dark green, aromatic when crushed
- Bark: Thick, furrowed, orange-brown to reddish-brown, emits vanilla scent when warmed
- Cones: Oval, 8–15 cm long, armed with sharp prickles on scales
Care Guide
Deep water every 2–3 weeks during prolonged dry spells
Light, balanced slow-release feed once in early spring. Do not over-fertilize, as this can weaken drought tolerance
Eggshell powder topdressing:Crush clean, dried eggshells to fine powder; sprinkle 1–2 tbsp around the base of the tree once every 6 months; avoid direct contact with the trunk to prevent rot- Remove dead, damaged, or diseased branches in late winter to prevent pest and disease spread
- Thin lower branches to improve air circulation and maintain natural conical crown shape
- Avoid heavy pruning; only trim to remove hazardous or overcrowded growth
