- Leaf: Evergreen needles in fascicles of 3, 15–25 cm long, dark green with fine serrated edges
- Cone: Ovoid-conical female cones 7–13 cm long, brown when fully mature; small yellow male cones cluster at branch tips
- Stem/Bark: Young bark smooth gray; mature bark thick, furrowed, reddish-brown with scaly rectangular plates
Care Guide
Water deeply every 1–2 weeks; increase frequency during prolonged drought
Apply slow-release acidic fertilizer once in early spring. Do not fertilize in autumn or winter to prevent frost damage to new growth
Eggshell powder topdressing:Crush dried eggshells into fine powder; sprinkle 1 tsp per plant base every 6 months; avoid direct contact with shallow roots- Remove dead, diseased, or broken branches in late winter to reduce pest and disease risk
- Thin crowded lower branches to improve airflow and sunlight penetration to the crown
