Plant Needs
Characteristics
- Leaf: Rigid, cylindrical dark green leaves with faint light green transverse bands; grow in tight rosettes
- Flower: Creamy-white, tubular flowers borne on tall, upright spikes (rare in indoor cultivation)
- Root: Slow-spreading rhizomatous root system
Care Guide
Water when topsoil dries completely; ensure excess water drains from the pot’s drainage holes
Apply diluted balanced succulent fertilizer once monthly. Cease fertilization in autumn and winter when growth slows to prevent fertilizer burn
Eggshell powder top dressing:Crush thoroughly dried eggshells into a fine powder; sprinkle a thin layer on the soil surface every 3 months to provide slow-release calcium without risking root burn- Remove yellowing or damaged leaves at their base using clean, sharp shears to maintain rosette shape
- Trim overgrown rhizomes during repotting to control the plant’s spread and encourage new growth
- Cut spent flower spikes close to the base after blooming to redirect energy to foliage development
