Characteristics
- Leaf: Slender, cylindrical, dark green with light green vertical striations; tapering to a sharp, pointed tip
- Stem: Short underground rhizome; aboveground stems are reduced to fused leaf bases
- Inflorescence: Creamy-white, tubular flowers on tall, upright spikes (rarely produced indoors)
Care Guide
Water when soil is fully dry (every 10–12 days)
Diluted balanced feed once every 2 months. Discontinue fertilization in autumn and winter to avoid leaf burn
Eggshell powder top-dress:Grind dried eggshells to a fine powder; lightly mix into the top 2 cm of soil every 3 months to boost soil structure and calcium content- Remove yellow, brown, or damaged leaves at the base using sterile shears
- Trim overcrowded underground rhizomes during spring repotting to control plant spread
- Cut back spent flower spikes after blooming to redirect energy to foliage growth
