Plant Needs
Characteristics
- Leaves: Lanceolate to linear, medium green, with slightly toothed margins, arranged oppositely on the stems;
- Flowers: Dense, upright terminal racemes (spikes) packed with tiny, star-shaped, vibrant rose-pink flowers;
- Stems: Erect, sturdy, and typically unbranched, forming a compact clump.
Care Guide
Water deeply when the top inch of soil feels dry.
Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer as new growth appears.. Avoid over-fertilizing, which can cause excessive, floppy foliage at the expense of blooms.
Banana Peel Tea:Steep chopped banana peels in water for 24-48 hours. Dilute 1:1 with water and apply to the base to support robust blooming. Discard peels in compost.- Deadhead spent flower spikes promptly to encourage a secondary flush of blooms;
- Cut back the entire plant to basal growth in late autumn or early spring;
- Divide clumps every 3-4 years in spring to maintain vigor and prevent overcrowding.
Toxicity
