Characteristics
- Leaf: Rigid, sword-shaped blue-green leaves with sharp tips, up to 1 m long, arranged in tight rosettes
- Flower: Creamy-white, bell-shaped blooms in upright panicles up to 3 m tall
- Fruit: Edible banana-shaped fleshy pods, 10–15 cm long with sweet, mealy flesh
Care Guide
Water deeply when top 15–20 cm of soil is dry; avoid overwatering to prevent root rot
Apply diluted balanced liquid fertilizer once monthly. Use low-nitrogen fertilizer to promote flowering rather than excessive foliage growth
Eggshell powder top-dress:Crush dried eggshells into fine powder; sprinkle 1–2 tbsp around the base of the rosette; water lightly to incorporate into the topsoil to boost soil alkalinity and calcium levels- Remove dead, brown leaves from the base of the rosette to maintain appearance and improve airflow
- Cut back spent flower stalks to the base after blooming to conserve the plant’s energy
- Trim damaged or broken leaf tips with clean, sharp shears to prevent disease spread
