Characteristics
- Leaf: Deeply lobed, spiny-margined, gray-green pubescent foliage
- Flower: Compact purple to pale lavender capitula surrounded by rigid spiny bracts

Care Guide
Water sparingly during active growth; allow soil to fully dry between waterings
Optional diluted compost tea once monthly to support growth. Avoid high-nitrogen fertilizers to prevent excessive foliage growth that may reduce flowering
Composted eggshell powder:Sprinkle lightly around the base; work into the top 2 cm of soil to improve soil structure and add calcium to support stem strength- Remove spent flower heads to control self-seeding if natural spread is not desired
- Trim back dead, brown foliage in late winter to encourage new spring growth
- Thin overcrowded stems to improve airflow and reduce risk of fungal disease
