Care Guide

Watering

Water when the top 5 cm of soil is fully dry; allow excess water to drain completely

Fertilization

Diluted cactus fertilizer applied once monthly. Use a balanced, low-nitrogen fertilizer diluted to half strength to avoid burning succulent tissue

Eggshell powder topdress:Crush thoroughly rinsed, dried eggshells into fine powder; sprinkle a thin layer on soil surface; avoid direct contact with the crested stem to prevent rot
Pruning
  • Remove dead or discolored sections of the crested growth to improve airflow and prevent rot
  • Trim any non-crested "normal" shoots to maintain the compact, fan-shaped form
  • Wear nitrile gloves during pruning to avoid contact with toxic milky sap
  • Avoid pruning during winter dormancy to minimize stress to the plant
