Characteristics
- Leaf: Linear, leathery, dark green leaves (5–12 cm long) arranged spirally on stems
- Cones: Male cones are yellowish cylindrical structures; female cones produce fleshy purple-black arils when mature
- Stem: Slender upright young stems; thick brown, furrowed bark on mature trees
Care Guide
Keep soil evenly moist; increase watering frequency during prolonged hot, dry periods
Apply diluted balanced liquid fertilizer every 4 weeks. Avoid over-fertilization, as this can cause leaf tip burn and reduced cone production
Eggshell powder topdressing:Crush fully dried eggshells into a fine powder; sprinkle 1–2 tablespoons on the soil surface and gently mix into the top 2 cm of soil to boost calcium levels and support healthy cone development- Trim overgrown branches in early spring to maintain desired shape and size
- Remove dead, diseased, or damaged foliage to improve air circulation and reduce pest risk
- Thin dense inner branches to allow light penetration and promote uniform growth
