Characteristics
- Leaf: Thick, rigid, blue-gray to silvery-green leaves with sharp terminal spines and small marginal teeth
- Flower: Bright yellow, tubular flowers clustered on a tall, branching flowering stalk
- Stem: Short, underground caudex with no visible aboveground stem
Care Guide
Water deeply once every 2–4 weeks when soil is fully dry; avoid overwatering to prevent root rot
Apply diluted low-nitrogen succulent fertilizer once every 2 months. Do not fertilize in winter, as the plant is dormant
Eggshell powder topdress:Crush dried, rinsed eggshells into fine powder; sprinkle lightly on soil surface to add calcium without burning delicate roots- Remove dead, brown leaves from the rosette base to reduce pest and disease risk
- Trim the tall flowering stalk after it finishes blooming, as the parent plant will die shortly after flowering
- Wear thick gloves when handling to avoid spine punctures
