Characteristics
- Leaf: Thick, rigid triangular leaves with sharp terminal spines, silvery-blue to gray-green with pale, fibrous margins
- Flower: Tall, branched inflorescence bearing clusters of yellow, tubular flowers (plant dies after blooming)
- Stem: Short, compact stem hidden beneath the dense leaf rosette
Care Guide
Water deeply when top 15–20 cm of soil is fully dry; avoid overwatering
Diluted cactus fertilizer once monthly. Discontinue fertilization in autumn and winter when growth slows
Eggshell powder topdressing:Crush dried eggshells into fine powder; sprinkle lightly on soil surface; avoid direct contact with leaves to prevent burning- Remove dead, brown leaves from the base of the rosette to improve airflow and appearance
- Trim the tall spent flower stalk after blooming (the parent plant will die post-flowering)
- Wear thick protective gloves when handling to avoid injury from sharp spines
